YSGA Model

Laying the Foundation for Future Leaders!

High-Quality Teachers

YSGA recruits teachers who are considered high-quality by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. “High Quality” means that the teachers have at the minimum of a bachelor’s degree and certification in the area of instruction. In addition, YSGA recruits teachers who have a passion for education, believe that all students can succeed, and have the ability to collaborate with students, families and staff.

Differentiated Support

YSGA understands that we serve a diverse student body. Our students enter school at different levels. Some students have gaps, some students are right on level, and some students are ready for a challenge. Our K-2 programs have two teachers per room. This enables the lead teacher to differentiate instruction through small groups with the help of a support teacher. Our 3rd-8th programs have Reading and Math intervention teachers. The intervention teachers work with the lead teachers to provide push-in support and pull-out support.

Growth Mindset

YSGA focuses on a growth mindset for both students and staff. YSGA helps students to focus on their strengths and helps students to develop a vision for the future. Through instruction and character education, students develop skills to help them succeed in class and in life. YSGA helps staff to develop their strengths through coaching, mentoring, and professional development.

D.R.A.G.O.N.S. is our acronym that represents the YSGA school wide expectations.

Do your best,

Respect yourself and others,

Always be kind,

Go the extra mile,

Own your actions,

Never give up, and

Success begins with you.  School wide expectations are taught by every teacher to foster a positive learning environment for every scholar.

Language Instruction

YSGA begins in instruction in two languages starting in Kindergarten and continuing through 8th grade. The program integrates a commonly spoken language (Spanish) and a critical language (Turkish).  A “critical” language means there is a demand for individuals who can speak, read, and write the language.

Strong Relationships

YSGA realizes that the key to student success is strong relationships. Our staff work hard to develop connections with both students and their families. YSGA also emphasizes the need to work as a team. If a student is experiencing a stumbling block, YSGA meets with families to devise solutions.
