Mission & Vision

Mission and History

The mission of Young Scholars of Greater Allegheny Charter School (YSGA) is to develop productive members of society by teaching critical skills through research – based pedagogy and data – driven instruction.  YSGA strives to help students succeed in all aspects of life through an innovative STEAM program, the use of the latest technology, exposure to world languages and cultures, and the promotion of positive social – emotional skills. In a rich academic environment, YSGA students will set an example for closing the achievement gap and student success.

Our Vision

YSGA will work to close the achievement gap in reading and math that are typically encountered in public education by providing high quality instruction, an innovative STEAM program, and a multitude of opportunities to achieve success. YSGA students will be exposed to multiple world languages and cultures, which, in combination with the teaching of social – emotional skills, will help students develop a broader and more empathetic world view.

When students leave YSGA, they will have been exposed to two world languages and their cultures and will be self-learners. Upon leaving YSGA, students will be able to think critically and will have the academic ability to succeed in any environment, which will enable them to have a variety of options for success in their future and be able to contribute positively to society.
