School Closures
Through the course of the school year, winter weather conditions or unexpected circumstances like interruptions to our utility services may require Young Scholars to delay the opening of school or close school for the day.
Parents and guardians can find announcements about Young Scholars closings and delays on local radio and TV stations: WPXI, WTAE, and KDKA. You can get up-to-the-minute school delay and closure information by receiving automated phone calls, texts, and/or emails from the Young Scholars message system, SchoolReach. You can also follow us on Facebook and Twitter.
Please note: School is canceled only during unusual circumstances such as extreme weather, facilities or equipment failure, an environmental hazard, or a public crisis that causes a significant safety risk. In the case of weather, Young Scholars considers mainly McKeesport Schools when scheduling delays and closings.
