Multi-Tiered Support

YSGA incorporates MTSS or Multi-Tiered Systems of Support within in the building.  MTSS s a standards-aligned, comprehensive school improvement model for enhancing academic, behavioral and social-emotional outcomes for all students.

Screening

All students are screened for academic need using the STAR assessment, i-Ready diagnostic test, and the DIBELS test.  Information from the tests is used to plan for individualized instruction. 

RTII

When students struggle in terms of academics or behavior, the RTII (Response to Instruction and Intervention) Team meets with teachers to review behavior and identify interventions to support that child. 

PBIS 

PBIS stands for Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports. PBIS has created a system that encourages positive behaviors in our school, community, and home by providing a respectful, responsible, and safe learning environments. PBIS also gives emotional, behavioral, social, and academic support for all. All Scholars have the opportunity to earn blue ticket for being respectful, responsible, and safe in all common areas of the school building. Scholars who are going above and beyond to be respectful, responsible, and safe in the common areas of the school can earn a Golden Flame ticket.

Special Education 

When a teacher has concerns for a student, the teacher meets with the RTII team to review data and make recommendations for intervention. Following documented attempts with interventions, the RTII Team (Child Study)  may recommend a special education evaluation.
